Recent Events

In January of 2009, CCT cruised to Brushy Creek Vineyards in Alvord, Texas a few miles north of Decatur, Texas. Wine tasting and a tour of the winery was followed by dinner in nearby Decatur, Texas at Sweetie Pie Rib Eye Restaurant, known for their grilled caramelized rib eye stakes, homemade yeast rolls with honey, and salad with hot bacon dressing. What a great way to bring in the New Year. CCT plans more Texas winery tours throughout 2009 as well as other exciting events.

CCT participated in our first parade of 2009, the Sixth Annual College Street Pub Mardi Gras Parade in Waxahachie, Texas on February 21st, 2009. Fellow parade participants and the friendly town's folks admired our Corvettes and visited with us prior to the parade. Along the parade route, we tossed candy and colorful beads to the children. We are looking forward to participating next year in this fun parade. The city of Waxahachie had worked very hard to promote the parade into a class event.

In March, CCT was invited to tour the exceptional car museum owned by Sam Pack of Sam Pack Ford notoriety. Mr. Pack's pristine multi-million dollar collection is tucked away in a 50,000 square foot warehouse and includes '57 Chevy convertibles, near-perfect '40 Ford convertibles, a national champion 1969 Shelby GT 500 Mustang and the new centerpiece of the collection: a candy-apple red 1966 427 Cobra drag car. Next on our agenda was a tour of Corvettes of Dallas to view their vintage Corvettes for sale as well as a wide array of merchandise and accessories. To top off the day, we enjoyed lunch at The Hard Eight BBQ Restaurant.

The weekend of March 21st and 22nd, we caravanned to Palestine, Texas for the 71st Annual Texas Dogwood Trails Celebration. Set among the beautiful piney woods of east Texas and blooming dogwood trees, we enjoyed watching the parade in downtown Palestine. The Cars of Palestine, a classic car club, hosted the 24th annual Dogwood Trails Car Show. We had a full day with a visit to The Sweet Dreams Winery, dinner at El Torro Mexican Restaurant in Palestine, and attended the production of Smoke On The Mountain Gospel Musical held at the historic Texas Theater in downtown Palestine. Sunday morning, we caravanned through Davey Dogwood Park in Palestine with a stop for a photo shoot of the Corvettes nestled among the flowering Dogwood trees.
